CARGO insurance covers the risks associated with a transport operation, with the beneficiary being the owner of the goods. In essence, the owner's goods are insured during transportation.
The Cargo policy can be issued either for a single transport, where the risk coverage is limited in time and space, or for a specific period, usually 12 months, during which the risks of all shipments carried out within that timeframe are covered, in accordance with the contractual conditions.
Cargo insurance is valid for all types of domestic or international transport – land, air, sea, or combined.
Depending on the risks covered, insurance companies offer three types of policies. To cover the risk of theft, an additional premium is paid, and usually, insurance companies impose a mandatory deductible for this risk.
The price of the Cargo policy is determined by the insurance company based on the information about the goods transported and the transport conditions.
